Each work experience description in your Simplify profile can contain up to 5,000 characters. This is a character limit, not a word limit. It applies to the description of your own experience, rather than the employer’s job posting you use to tailor a resume.
Where the limit applies
The limit applies to each work experience entry’s description in your profile. Spaces, punctuation, and line breaks count toward a character limit. The number of words that fits varies, so “about 800 words” is not a reliable limit to write to.
An employer’s application form may have its own shorter limit. Keeping a profile description within Simplify’s limit does not guarantee it will fit every form.
How to shorten an experience description
Open Profile and find the role in Work Experience.
Choose the edit icon. Keep the main responsibilities, relevant tools, and specific results; remove repeated information and long introductory paragraphs.
Save the entry. If an employer’s field still rejects the text, shorten the answer for that application to meet the limit shown there.
Keep the title, company, and dates in their dedicated fields. For example, the description can focus on what you did and the results rather than repeating the full employment heading.
