Generate a cover letter with Copilot

Generate, review, and use a cover letter while completing an application with Copilot.

Last updated About 2 hours ago

With Simplify+, you can generate a cover letter from Copilot on a job application. Open Generate Cover Letter, check the job details, generate a draft, then review and edit it before choosing Use Cover Letter or filling the application.

Generate the cover letter

We built the cover letter tool into the application flow so you can work with the job description and your saved background together. A draft can reuse the facts about your experience while changing the examples and explanation for the company and role.

  1. Open the application and open Copilot. Check that you are signed in to the account with Simplify+.

  2. In the Cover Letter section, choose Generate Cover Letter.

  3. Check the job title and description. Use Edit Job Description if the detected information is missing or wrong.

  4. Choose a template if useful, then add any instructions or details you want included. Choose Generate with AI.

  5. Read and edit the draft. Check the company, role, contact details, and every experience or achievement mentioned.

  6. Choose Use Cover Letter or the fill action shown for the application. Check the text or attached file on the employer’s form before submitting it yourself.

What the draft uses

Generation uses the target job description and your Simplify profile and resume information. An accurate profile gives the draft concrete material to work with. Missing experience details can lead to vague writing, so add useful facts before generating or provide them in your instructions.

For example, you can ask for a short letter that highlights a specific project and explains why its work relates to the role. Include the facts you want used rather than asking the tool to invent a stronger achievement. You can change the tone or wording after generation.

If Copilot does not detect a cover letter field

Some applications do not accept a cover letter, and some fields may not be detected. A generated draft does not guarantee that the employer’s form has a place for it. Use an available text or attachment field if appropriate, or create and export a letter from Documents. Do not place a cover letter in an unrelated required field.

Create or reuse a letter from Documents

Open Documents → New Cover Letter to write a letter manually or generate one with Simplify+. Add the target job, edit the result, and save or export it as a separate version. Use Cover Letters to find saved versions and Templates for reusable starting content.

Review a reused letter for old company names, job titles, and role-specific examples. Editing a saved version does not update a letter you already submitted.
