Tailor your resume with Copilot
Create a separate resume version for a job, review the changes, and select it for your application.

Use Copilot’s Tailor Resume control to create a resume for the job you’re viewing. Simplify+ adds AI rewriting; you can review and edit the result in Resume Builder before using it. The tailored version stays separate from your source file or resume.
Check the source resume and job
We built tailoring into Copilot because rewriting the same background for every job takes time. The useful change is often specific: give a relevant project more space, name a tool you used, or explain an outcome more clearly. Tailoring should describe your actual experience for the role you chose.
Open the job or application and open Copilot.
Check the selected Resume and the job description Copilot detected.
Open Keywords Score or the keyword-match panel to review matched and missing terms. Use Update Job Description if it is comparing against the wrong text.
Keyword coverage is one part of the feedback. Resume Builder also has a broader Resume Score for content and formatting checks. Neither is the employer’s ATS score or a requirement to apply. Older examples show a 70% tip; use the specific feedback instead of treating that as a passing threshold.
Create and review a tailored version
Choose Tailor Resume in Copilot to open Resume Builder for the job.
Choose a source from your profile or existing resumes, or upload a PDF or Word file to create a separate editable builder resume.
With Simplify+, use AI Generate Resume or a section’s AI action. Select relevant keywords and add instructions if needed. You can also edit the resume manually.
Review the generated version and its highlighted changes. Correct unsupported claims, numbers, dates, or phrasing before choosing Apply Changes.
Save the resume, then use Save & Use Resume where shown or select that saved version in Copilot. Check the attached file before submitting the application yourself.
The video below shows the tailoring and review steps in an earlier interface. Its source picker excludes uploaded files; current creation also supports importing a PDF or Word file as a separate builder resume.
Choose what to change
You can rewrite one bullet, a whole section, or the full resume. Use AI Settings to adjust emphasis, and give concrete instructions such as “highlight the migration project and keep the metrics already on my resume.” Add a missing keyword only if it accurately describes your experience.
For example, a posting may say “stakeholder interviews” while your resume says “talked with customers.” If that accurately describes the same work, a more specific bullet can explain who you interviewed and how the findings informed the project. Adding unrelated keywords would not make the underlying experience a better fit.
What happens to the original?
The tailored resume is a separate version from its source. Importing a PDF or Word file does not rewrite that file. For entries linked to Profile, titles, company names, and dates use the shared profile details; tailored bullets remain specific to the resume and update your profile only when you explicitly apply them.
You can return to Documents to edit or reuse the saved version. Editing it later does not update a file already submitted to an employer. If you want every field reviewed before submission, use Copilot; Autopilot submits automatically after you choose it.
