How it works

When Copilot detects a supported job page, it can use the job description, your Simplify profile, and your existing resume information to generate a cover letter tailored to the role you are applying for.

We built this into the application flow because drafting cover letters are one of the most taxing parts of the job search. Most candidates are not trying to write a completely different story every time. They are usually trying to explain the same background in a way that feels more relevant to a specific company or role.

A tailored cover letter helps make your application feel more aligned with the position without having to start afresh for every application.


How to access the cover letter generator

When Copilot detects a supported application page, the autofill panel breaks the application into sections, including a Cover Letter section.

On Simplify+, that section includes an AI generation action that creates a cover letter using:

  • the current job description

  • your Simplify profile

  • your connected resume and experience

  • information already stored across your account

The generated draft appears directly inside the application flow so you can review and edit it before submitting.


How cover letter generation works

Simplify works best when your profile has enough context about your background, experience, and goals.

Your profile powers more than cover letters. It also helps with:

  • Copilot autofill

  • resume tailoring

  • job matches

  • recruiter visibility if you choose to enable it

  • application tracking in Simplify Job Tracker

When generating a cover letter, Copilot pulls from the same profile and resume information already connected to your account. That keeps your applications more consistent and saves you from re-explaining your experience from scratch each time.

The work you do once inside Simplify carries across the rest of your job search.


How to generate a cover letter inside Simplify

This creates a separate version tied to a saved job, which is useful if you want to:

  • review or edit the draft before applying

  • More detailed experience descriptions in your profile usually produce more specific cover letters, since generation pulls directly from your background and resume.

  • Saving the job before generating helps keep the role title and company tied to the draft for future edits or regenerations.

  • The broader tailoring options in Copilot can also adjust how the application and cover letter are generated together.
