About essay questions

Some job applications include written questions that go beyond standard autofill fields. These are usually short-answer or essay-style prompts like:

  • "Why are you interested in this company?"

  • "What makes you a good fit for this role?"

  • "What are you looking to achieve in your next position?"

Copilot can help generate responses to these questions directly inside the application flow. It can also remember answers you have already submitted before, so if the same question appears again in another application, Copilot can reuse your previous response automatically.

How to generate responses to application questions

When Copilot detects a supported application page, questions that cannot be answered through standard autofill appear under the Application AI Question section in the Autofill tab.

On Simplify+, each question includes an AI generation action that creates a draft response using:

  • the current job description

  • the company and role

  • your Simplify profile and resume

You can generate responses:

  • one question at a time, or

  • for multiple questions together through Tailor Application β†’ View all options

Generated answers appear directly in the application field so you can review and edit them before submitting.

How Copilot handles repeated questions

Copilot automatically remembers responses to application questions that you have previously submitted.

If the exact same question appears again in another application, Copilot can refill your saved response automatically instead of generating a new one.

⚠️ Keep in Mind: The wording has to match exactly. Similar questions with slightly different phrasing are treated as separate questions. For example, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" and "Where do you see yourself in the future?" are treated as two different questions.

When matching questions appear again, your saved answer is reused automatically. If you want to update a saved response, edit the answer the next time that exact question appears in an application.
