🛑 How to Spot and Report Recruitment Scams Misusing Simplify's Name
What’s happening?
We've recently been made aware of scammers impersonating members of the Simplify team, including made-up roles like “Career Consultant” or “Recruiting Specialist,” using unofficial email accounts such as personal Gmail or Outlook addresses. These messages may reference our company, founders, or fictional job opportunities and internships.
Example of a Scam Email
Hello,
I hope you're doing well today.
My name is Sheriff, and I work as a Career Consultant at Simplify.
Recently, our CEO, Michael, announced some exciting internship opportunities...
Due to a security breach... I'm using my personal email...
Please send me your career interests and location so I can connect you to top employers...
If you receive a message like this, please do not respond, click any links, or share personal information. These messages are fraudulent.
How to Tell It's a Scam
Here’s how to spot a fake recruiter:
âś… Official emails will only come from @simplify.jobs
, @joinsimplify.com
, or @hey.simplify.jobs
❌ We never use personal Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or similar email domains
❌ We never ask for sensitive personal information upfront via email
❌ We don’t send internship offers without context – if you haven’t interacted with us before or been referred through one of our partners, it’s likely not legitimate.
What to Do If You’re Contacted
- Do not respond to the message.
- Mark it as spam or phishing in your email app.
- If you’ve shared sensitive info, take precautionary steps:
- Change any passwords or security questions you may have shared.
- Monitor your accounts for suspicious activity.
